Onlangs schreef ik het volgende op een Nietzscheforum:
I recently started to study Heidegger and, if I have understood him correctly, I think we might make the following revaluation in our thinking about the Superman [Übermensch]. Let us suppose my aim is to be a Superman, in the qualitative sense. I am no Superman yet, I am still human, all too human [menselijk, al te menselijk], but I'm doing everything in my power to become a Superman rather than a last man. This means I am becoming a Superman, even if I still have a very long way to go and will perhaps not attain actual supermanhood in my lifetime. I am becoming a Superman, which means I am a becoming Superman! I am in the process of becoming a Superman, I am a Superman in progress, like a sculpture which has not yet been finished or is even only just begun (still resembles a block of marble rather than a statue). So being a companion or forerunner of the Superman amounts to being in a preliminary stage of supermanhood, which is nonetheless already a stage of supermanhood!
